Центромерная ДНК — гетерохроматиновая, высокоповторяющаяся и не кодирующая ДНК центромеры эукариотических хромосом. У дрожжей Ц. ДНК состоит из трех групп консервативных последовательностей (элементов): левого конца из 14 п.о. (CDE I), центрального AT-богатого сегмента из 80-90 п. о. и правого конца из 11 п. о. Ц. ДНК не содержит открытой рамки считывания и поэтому не транскрибируется (см. Транскрипция). Образует прочный комплекс с определенными белками, которые в свою очередь взаимодействуют с белками микротрубочек веретена, направляющих сегрегацию хромосом.Англо-русский толковый словарь генетических терминов > centromeric DNA
